Now close to the end

funny thing , writing a blog after a long period of time of not doing it, mainly because i have some things on my mind i want to write about so bare with me if this turns out to be a long entry, so first and foremost things have been going from ok to good in the place im doing my professional practice, i know i still have a lot to learn among those things be a little more creative with things specially if theyre related to doing fun stuff.

its the home stretch of the semester, meaning its close to the end of it and usually this means more midterms and more papers to give to teachers, so i have a feeling these will be the longest weeks of the entire semester at least for me, mainly because i get stressed out at times, hopefully that doesnt happen this time, ill do my best to end the semester well and that will continue until i finish my career this year.

as important as studying is im also going to take some of the few free time i have, when i dont have any papers or midterms, etc to catch up with old movies i havent seen before and maybe discover some old or new bands that i may end up liking , and maybe write again blogs or short stories but mainly write again, something i discovered i liked doing like 6 years ago, and ive continued doing it since on and off.

Mountains of regrets

i decided to write this blog after reading a message from a girl i liked when i was starting my college career, pretty much telling me that we could have been friends if i opened up myself a bit to her, i regret not doing that all because i was scared of being hurt, funny thing how life is and how things happen, you meet a lot of people, you do a lot of things, but what do they all mean really.

it would be good to leave a mark on the world, do something that can help people in general, and not be someone who walked through life so quickly that no mark was left , i think there have been a lot of people who have done great things in their live that few people know of them, but when they die , all the work they have done is recognized by everyone, ok i was going off topic there i agree, so i guess there are things and oportunities that appear in life, that sometimes you take them sometimes you dont, i dont know if the same could be said about people, look at the number of persons you know, have any of them touched your life in any way, if they have how, i guess you can learn things even from a kid, since the world is full of surprises and adventure for them.

The irony of it all

so figures a new blog and at a time im in a type of vacation i guess, funny thing when youre not doing a lot its exactly the time to think things through more, but sometimes thinking about stuff is not the same as actually doing something, its ironic in a way what happened yesterday pretty much a lecture from one of my teachers telling me that me and my sister were being treated like lap dogs by my mother, the sad thing about it , its true i never admited it thinking my mother would change but no its the same cycle over and over again.

and this has taken a toll on my professional practice at a foundation that takes care of homeless elderly people, i havent fullfilled my job as a psychologist there as well as i could have all because ive got use to people pushing me telling me what to do, instead of me taking the initiative and actually do something, so i decided from now on, ill give 1000% to everything i do, do what i have to do where im going to do my job as a psychologist and stop letting my mother treat me and my sister like lap dogs, seems like she doesnt want us to be independent, because she became dependent on us to do everything with her.

Roads traveled in this path called life

so pretty much i havent written anything on here for a while, mainly because ive been busy with college and making the steps to start my professional practice, at least thats how its called here, im thinking this year will be a little difficult but that happens when youre finishing college, what else i made to myself the task of listening to my entire music library before this year ends, or before we arrive to june so far so good.

its kind of ironic that nowadays people talk a lot about global warming and its consequences, and we need to do to stop it or reduce the effects its having on our environment, and where i live its consequences are taking its toll on people and everything in general, its been too hot lately and theres and epidemy of a tropical disease called dengue, thats transmited by a mosquito.

so i didnt finished this entry so considered it a continuation of the previous entry, so last weekend was elections for congress and it was a mess some people didnt know how to vote, since the voting system had changed, oh yeah i had my first reunion with my academic supervisor at the place im doing my professional practice and guess what it didnt go well, pretty much i was told that i havent done pretty much anything at all and that i needed to talk to people more, something thats a bit difficult to me at times.

so its a new week and i propose myself to catch up on things so i can have a good and normal practice, so then at the end of the year i could graduate, im still thinking if the hurt locker deserved so many oscars, ill post my opinion on it after ive seen it, one of the movies i liked the most from last year was moon and it was never mentioned for anything, it was a great movie about isolation and the human spirit, i highly recommend it to anyone who hasnt seen it, and if anyones interested theres going to be a new predator movie called predators, and finally the second trailer for iron man 2 was released recently and it looks great

A look back of last year

pretty much a few days have passed since new years so i decided to make this entry about of last year and this new year too, well 09 was a great year and a ok year i discovered a lot of old and new music, saw a lot of movies and traveled a little which was ok with me.

ok so to continue this entry last year started with me looking for a place to do a practice that was obligatory to do in my career, after a short search i was able to do that it was in a retirement home that was ran by a family composed of a gerontologist, a businessman and a nurse that took on the task on taking care of at the beginning twenty elderly people and before they moved it diminished into just five people each with a different disease mainly alzheimer or parkinsons, since i decided my thesis was going to be related to the elderly i went to the home for a year and gathered lots of information concerning to that topic.

to no bore anyone with anything more college related last year was the year i got back into comics i started reading new and mighty avengers and some cable and deadpool and the new deadpool run , liked the new avengers a lot and cable and deadpool too, then later on decided to catch up on the original deadpool comic run and it was way better than the current ongoing one, i forgot that i also read the invincible iron man at least the extremis saga it was great maybe ill catch up on it later on this year, and recently i began to read all star superman and the inmortal iron fist one is considered the ultimate superman story and the other one is a relatively new comic book character.

what else saw a lot of movie but not as much as i would have wanted to, and also various youtube videos from deadpool fans and comic book geeks and general reviewers of stuff, a big laugh i got everytime i watched and infomania or supernews segment on the current.com channel, ironically it was the year i got caught up in watching various horror movies among them i finally saw all the nightmare on elm street franchise the best of the series are the 1st , 3rd , 4th and new nightmare, in very cautious on the remake theyre making of the original nigthmare on elm street might be good or it might suck a lot, what else i discovered four internet geeks and comedians that each one reviewed different types of things the nostalgia critic old movies and sometimes top 11 about a specific topic.

the angry video game nerd bad games from different consoles, and his counterpart james r does cinemassacre where he posts his movies and his monster madness marathon recommending some of his favorite horror movies and he also does movie review which are very good, the spoony one who apparently likes to torture himself not only playing bad games intentionally but bad movies too, without his reviews i wouldnt have know of yor the hunter from the future who is a badass as is the person playing him reb brown, and this person also does blogs and reviews of movies, tv among other things.

and finally linkara who reviews bad comic books and sometimes bad video games, a very funny person his best reviews are amazon attacks, superman at earths end, mr t and the t force, countdown and silent hill dying inside, hope to see more reviews one funnier than the next.

since this year marks the end of a decade various bloggers, people, websites, etc, are doing end of the decade lists i might do one but only mentioning like a top 10 instead of a top 100 since that takes time.
if things go well id graduate from college this year or at least finish all the subjects and my professional practice and graduate next year

Favorites of 2009

well its that time of the year again, music fans are making theyre best ofs lists , the same goes with music media, sometimes everyone agrees on and album sometimes they dont, depending on how broad your music taste is, or what type of music you like this could have been a good or bad year for you musically.

at least in my case it was a good year not only did i found out about a lot of new bands and releases but i also revisited some of the classics or forgotten bands of different genres, it was fun and it helped me appreciate music much more.

i had to narrow it down to 20 or 15 albums since a lot of good music was released this year.

20)the adorkables- she loves me not

well this is mainly on this list because i enjoyed the album a lot, yes there were a few good pop-punk records this years but this is the one i enjoyed the most

19)rooftops – a forest of polarity

a late entry i discovered this band in these recent months and after hearing the album for numerous times, it clicked with me, its a good math rock record from a new band

18)mountains-etching

pretty much the album that introduced me into ambient music, it may be just one track but its actually very good

17)japandroids-post-nothing
actually a very good noise rock or garage rock album, and good debut

16)lucero- 1372 overton park

good major label debut from this band, lacked something to be truely great

15)westbound train-come and get it

one of the few ska bands that still pay homage to the traditional ska

14)the mercury program-chez viking

another late entry since it was released at the end of this year, all the records ive heard from this band so far have been great and this is no exception, dont know in what genre to put them so its just great music that you can relax to.

13)cult ritual-1st lp

one of the few hardcore records i enjoyed this year, and like i saw in another list i agree doesnt have enough lasting value.

12)touche amore- to the beat of a dead horse

this was kind of a surprise for me since ive never been a fan of screamo or however you want to call it, its a very powerful and raw record thats great

11)obits-i blame you

its actually kind of coincidental that the same year i finally get into drive like jehu, its singer rick froberg releases new material with this new band called obits, another good record that tryes to capture the spirit of his other bands

10)balmorhea- All is Wild, All is Silent
great album from one of the most enjoyable post-rock bands of the present

9)kylesa-static tensions

one of the best heavy albums of the year, one of the frontrunners in sludge since they combined various influences to create and original and different sound.

8)so many dynamos- the loud wars

though i listened to this album very few times, it hooked me from the start and will continue to be one of the few the math rock albums i enjoyed the most this year

7)dinosaur jr-farm

after a two year absence this band came back with a very good album, not as great as beyond but still good

6)caspian-tertia

what grabbed about this was how the band sometimes tryes to do something different, in a genre thats been recently oversaturated with a lot of bands that sound the same sometimes

5)the mountain goats- the life of the world to come

the mountain goats after releasing one of their best albums last year comes back with and album based on biblical passages, its a good album whether youre religious or not

4)rx bandits-mandala

fans of the old ska sound of this band wont like this album a whole lot, since is more experimental than the others have been, while the horns maybe missed its still a great album and one of the years best

3)thrice-beggars

after releasing the elemental eps that some liked and others didnt, to be honest this album has great music and lyrics and its a band moving on from their old sound and exploring new things

2)baroness – blue record

two facts i got into this band like a year ago, and second it seems like the band raised the bar for this record in its songwriting and music, releasing one of the most interesting records of this year

1)future of the left- travels with myself and another

some people gave this band a chance since some of the members of mcklusky were in it, i gave it a chance out of curiosity and it hooked me , great sophomore album from a band i expect to hear great things about in the coming years.

the past and its stories

well to continue a look through the past and various topics, i finished the last post talking about music ill end this one with something of the sort, so my last blog was talking about the celebration of the 40 years of existence of my high school, guess what pretty much no one showed up, just like 4 people from my old classroom went there so yep it seemed like it was and ok event.

after i graduated from high school which to be honest was a long time ago, i had to decide what career i was going to study so i finally decided on medicine , at first everything was going ok but in third semester i had a big crush on a classmate she was nice, kind etc, and i thought she liked me back , though i did my best to pass every subject i failed at two important of these i was taking so i had to take them again, and after this things turned a turn to the worse and i ended up having to drop out of college.

and after two years of mainly doing a course to how to create websites and two english courses my parents decided to give me another chance, so they told me to pick another career so i picked psychology since i was going to pick computer engineer or something like it but im bad at math, so here i am six years later if everything goes well im graduating next year.

the only positive thing about all this is all the amount of people ive met , very few ive talked to a lot and with the few i had theyre friends of mine, that i can talk to sometimes so thats a past memory related to my academic
