the little things in the road.

so ive been thinking throughout our life we meet a lot of different people, sometimes do a lot of different activities among other things, there are small moments in life some remember more than others these happen because of the little things in the road something as simple as reading a good book or just laying in the grass among other moments that why exactly am i mentioning this the answer is simple ive been remembering them. 

i still remember when i climbed a lot of stairs in a small town called salento in a department of my country colombia and at the top there was a natural viewpoint, though i ended a bit tired it was worth it to see the scenery from up there one of the few moments  i remember that still make me smile and think from time to time.

there are people that can have a repetitive speech if its mentioned more than one time and its about the same subject over and over again, so a few words a relative told me recently made me reflect on something; do we plan our life since we are little some admit to doing this but not everyone does this i admit i didnt since there are many twists and turns along the way that admittedly one wouldnt know where the road will end.

the short end of it

so after what seemed like and uneventful day, the night came with a small discussion about depending on others to do anything on life per se. so as some know there do exist people out there who become co-dependent on others to do everything in their lives im guessing that can happen in relationships too where a person is clingy and depends on the other person and if that person isnt there their whole world comes crashing down.

the question would be why exactly am i making this analogy the answer is simple a person i know who i will reserve the name is pretty much angry because he thinks im co-dependent of another person mainly in relation to transportation from one place to the other though this is true, ive gone to various places alone before mainly on bus which is my second mode of transportation but im guessing sooner or later it will become my first.

i do agree that life is about learning every step of the way and grow as a person as you learn new things, my guess is that its related to that in part but also to pretty much show yourself and the world that you can do things on your own because that way you can interact with people you havent before.

im changing topics for a moment and asking this question, what would you do if you were in a situation where you lived with a person who didnt want to seem to grow up and acted as a teenager at times, even going as far as just watching teen related shows living in that secluded world.

what would you do reader in a situation like that, how would you react?

movie reviews 2011 so far part 2

Paul

if you like scifi and the work of pegg and frost you might like this, but i have a feeling its not for everyone
paul is a like rude and crude sometimes, but ends up showing he cares about others too. funny, fast paced after a slow start but overall good scifi comedy.

SuckerPunch              
so this one is going to be a bit longer than usual, the trailer got a lot of people hyped to see this movie.
i wasnt able to see it in theaters so i saw it online, i was disappointed the plot is simple a greedy uncle wants the heritage of his niece and puts her in a mental asylum and shes scheduled for a lobotomy what unravels when we get there is a combination of alternate realities that dont make sense , some cool action scenes finding out that this movie doesnt have a strong story.

 

Hop

so this had its moments though there werent many to be honest, eb had some likeable traits but didnt fully convinced me. its ok mainly for kids.

Insidious

for everyone saying this is the best horror movie of the year, i dont think so but i agree that it is good specially at the beginning i didnt liked the second half of the movie mainly when they were in the astral project. apart from that it has some creepy moments and a dark atmosphere most of the movie.

Source Code

 so parallel realities is the major theme of this movie, i wont tell the twist because it would ruin the movie for a lot of people, what i can say is this the ending was ok i thought something completely different was going to happen based on how the story unfolded.

Rio

this was a fun movie, one of the most colourful movies of the year mainly because of all the exotic birds that are in the beginning of the film. i liked how the relationship between blu and belle blossomed as the film progressed. i liked the bulldog and the toucan they had some funny parts

Dylan Dog: Dead of Night

 a movie based on and italian comic that doesnt take anything from the source materials, this has zombies, werewolves and vampires and in spite of that its not a good movie. though marcus dylans sidekick had his moments that were funny.

Thor

 the first of three marvel movies that premiered this year, the introduction of the god of thunder to a lot of people tying with the avengers movie like iron man and the incredible hulk had done before. solid acting , the stuff on earth was ok but everything in asgard was amazing hope in the sequel we can see more of that. and hemsworth did a good job portraying thor.

Kung Fu Panda 2

 one of the most fun animated movies of the year, i liked how they developed pos story and how he form a bond of friendship with some of the furious five they looked like a team of friends. and the introduction of the other masters was great.

X-Men First Class

i admit this movie surprised me after x mens wolverine i was about to give up on the franchise, but first class reinserted what made the first two movies fun but adding elements that the others didnt have. i liked magnetos backstory fassbender was great in the role, mcavoy as xavier was good too. i scratched my head when one of the characters died at the i think middle of the film darwin. because i read up on him and he doesnt die.

a small tale about friendship

ive been waiting to write this for a while and had never given the chance to do it, why exactly i dont know but its a theme ive wanted to talk about for a long time even before i even started this blog its friendship not only the word but what does it mean and how many true friends ive had in my life so far.

so pretty much the first friendships everyone has are in high school or before it, well i had a group of people i hanged out with i dont know if i would call them friends or not, i graduated with them before this happened i found out a bit late that they were only using me to go to a club that doesnt exist anymore that had pools, soccer field among other stuff.

they never were my friends no matter how much i would say the contrary to myself, so after this when i started college since i was a very shy person a person came up to me and offered to be my friend or so i thought, i hanged out with his group but didnt clicked with anyone and didnt thought they were my friends either.

after this i was in two more groups the last one was the one i clicked with, they were nice people and we did had some things in common, that group disbanded when i changed to another classroom though i ocasionally saw them from time to time.

so in a nutshell in my life i think ive only ever had one true friend with whom i still talk to when we both can, hopefully soon i can find more true friends with whom i can hang out with and talk and have fun.

movie reviews 2011 so far part 1!

ok so im doing a small recap of the few films ive seen this year. though they havent been a lot per se theyve been some of the films i was anticipating from the begining but others i saw out of pure curiosity.

G

to start this is the dilemma , the main problem this movie had was it was trying to be a drama and a comedy at the same time failing at both in the end.

 

The Green Hornet

so like i mentioned in a short review i did but never posted here kato did everything while reed didnt do much. the movie had its funny moment and some action too. it may not be the best comic book movie but its fun.

Gnomeo and Juliet

this could be sum up in two words romeo and juliet but with garden gnomes, for being one of the first animated movies of the year it was ok. some characters were fun 

I am Number four

the simplest way this could be sum up would be twilight but with aliens. the pacing for half of the movies was slow. the ending had some action, maybe ill see the sequel out of curiosity

i liked both aspects the psychological thriller and the spy elements in it. 

a solid movie with good performances from everyone

Drive Angry 

this was like a fun b-movie . the accountant was great, and so was cage.

The Adjustment Bureau

though it had and interesting premise, the execution wasnt the best. both protagonists did have great chemistry.

Beastly

count this among the movies that i didnt want to see but saw out of curiosity and because my sister wanted to see it. so youve all heard the story , very similar to beauty and the beast looked into it. it was based on a book that i didnt know about before this. it was ok, maybe some teens might like it because of the actors.

Rango

well the animation here was great, but wasnt too fond of the story specially since i wasnt entirely convince that the main character actually learned something from his predicament.

Mars needs moms

so cliche story since i think ive seen something like this before, some characters were annoying and a disturbing scene that made me think. is this really a kids movie?

and answer within a question, a thought inside a mind!

its time to refocus this post because at the begining it was mostly going to contain a rant much or less about stress and pressure throughout life whether it be from family, coworkers , friends etc and how that can affect a persons life.

 though im still going to comment on it, its not going to be the whole purpose of this post in my opinion because i want to talk a bit about the elderly and how theyre treated here; so ive been pretty tense lately and yes its related to stress a pressure from others at times i didnt thought how much other people around you can affect you whether it be good or bad and this is one of those cases.

specially when the person whos doing it thinks its doing something good by applying pressure that can amount to stress and sometimes im guessing depression or burnout, we live in a society where everything and everyone is moving in a astoundily fast pace so much in fact that at times we dont stop and take even a small break to rest and think about the things were doing in our lifes and how these are affecting us and others around us.

i have to not let pressure and stress overcome me and my life, because that always ends up in a bad result. before i end this short post i want to ask what would you rather see a movie that makes you think or a movie like transformers to escape from the world even at least for a few hours.

of life and family , the road traveled and the road ahead.

so ive come to a realization lately, no matter how many things happen in a persons life whether it be good or bad, it seems sometimes they dont learn from those moments and continue repeating the same mistakes and continue with the same attitudes towards specific things.

in this case im talking about academic related stuff , heck im not the one to criticize anyone ive had my ups and downs in that department but thanks to a lot of support from family , friends and others i pulled through and graduated from psychology, now im doing a masters in a new area called psychogerontology its related to the elderly and the problems they have in this stage of life.

i thank a teacher i had when i was in psychology she got me interested in the elderly because of a research i participated in related to cultural knowledge of the elderly related to plants that help heal various ailments, theres one thing the world is noticing lately as the years pass theres more and more elderly people in all the countries of the world , so its up to the different goverments of the world to develop programs to help them have a good quality of life.

so a lot has happened since my last blog , some of it i know i cant tell here because its family related all i can say its that this is the first time in my life ive ever have to deal with a family member with a nervous breakdown in part i could say, though its going to be a long proccess the result in the end will be positive i have a feeling that will be true.
