a retrospective of 2010

mainly a personal retrospective though a lot happened in the world last year, it was the year natured got back at humankind you could say first the eartquake in haiti then at the end of the year the snowstorms in europe and the u.s and also the floods in colombia, it i try to remember everything that happened in the world the past year this entry would be a lot longer than it normally is.

personally it was a year with its ups and downs like every year, my main positive news is im finally graduating from my university this year, it has been a long tumultuous ride but its been worth it every second, headache even tear because of a lot of things that happened while i was studying to get my degree; i met a lot of people some became my friends others just people i know.

it was a specially good year for my sister, she graduted from law school and did and intership in a business that produces chemical products which helped her practice what she have learned in the five years she studied, i fully got back into comics and read some series that were good and others that were ok mainly secret avengers, shadowland, blackest night among others.

so in two days the first week of this new year ends and so far nothing special has happened, though i wasnt waiting for anything to happen per se; i think its time for me to do something whether it be writing or learning to play guitar, in general something that i enjoy whether it be to pass time or because i genuinely like to do it.

and hopefully no more complaints but looking for solutions and answers to them and any problem i may have in the future, something tells me this is going to be a good year for me and maybe in general, but who knows what will happen in the world this year thats a mistery at the moment.

Best Music of 2010

so this was a rather good year for music at least in my opinion, some of my favorite bands released good albums but also some new bands that may have promising futures

its hard to narrow down a list when so much good music was released.
20. Envy-Recitation

this album could have been higher on the list if i listened to it a bit more, this is another band i just got into this year with elements of post-rock , screamo and other sounds not only makes it interesting but also engaging to the listener
 
19. Street Dogs-S/T

 

a really fun album that sees the band going back to what they do best. fast catchy street punk anthems.

this is mainly and experimental album by a band from norway that delivers a different and interesting sound in this album. combining jazz and black metal

14.Screaming Females-Castle Talk

a good garage punk album from a band i just discovered this year

13.School of Seven Bells- Disconnect from Desire

its a bit difficult for me to classify this album, though it has elements of various genres that make it interesting and different in part. from other artists ive heard this year

12.The Flatliners-Cavalcade

the band ditches the few ska punk roots they had to deliver a fast punk rock album

11.Bad Religion-The Dissent of Man

though good it lacked something to be truely great like this bands classic albums

10.No Age- Everything in Between

making a big change to the sound they were know for no age put out and album that may have lost them some fans but gained them new ones too.

9. Ted leo and the Pharmacists-The Brutalist Bricks

so after the mixed living with the living ted leo goes back to his roots in part , making and enjoyable album

8. Kylesa-Spiral Shadow

this has been the year for total changes in sound from a lot of bands, and this one is another one in that category ditching their sludge sounds from their early records, making what could be described as a stoner rock record and one of the years best
7.Deerhunter-Halcyon Digest

another experimental band that so far hasnt released a bad album . it may not be as loud and distorted as past albums but its great nonetheless

6.Masshysteri-Masshysteri

so this proves sweden is a great place for bands. as this band shows in this good punk rock album

5.A Silver Mt Zion-Kollaps Tradixionales

i think its curious that this album was the one that got me into the band, though strange at times its a good album from a band i hope to hear more in the future.

4.Ida Maria-Katla

so this was a good year for norway artists shining and ida maria released albums that made my list of favorite albums of the year. hope to continue hearing great things from this artist.

3.Superchunk-Majestic Shredding

First album after a few years of silence from this band, i was able to see them live thanks to matador records livestream of their anniversary concerts. ive enjoyed this record a lot , hopefully this band continues releasing albums for a few more years.

2.Medications-Completely Removed

so the number two is this album of a post-punk band making a good record after a few years of not releasing anything and apparently staying dormant.

1.Titus Andronicus-The Monitor

no other album of this year captured from the start as this one, sees the band practically ditching their old sound and experimenting with new ones.

so the menzingers follow up hold on, dodge with a fun album that haves them releasing one of this bands best albums yet.

one of this years best heavy albums. mathcore at its best

a post-metal album that takes inspiration from jesu and other bands from a rather unknown artist

Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra

so this is one of the few two tone or third wave ska albums released this year, from a country whose bands i overlooked in the past. fun and upbeat like each of this bands albums.

Black Mountain- Wilderness Heart

the bands most accesible record to date, completely ditching the stoner rock roots from their early beginnings.

The Walkmen- Lisbon

huge props to the band for releasing what might be considered as a classic record from their catalogue.

ef-mourning golden morning

one of the few albums from this genre that i listened to a lot this year, this was the year of discovering old and new bands from different genres and this was one of those bands, that ill continue checking out everything they release.

my year in a few words

first and foremost i know its a bit early to do this but i wanted to do it, because maybe if i dont i may forget some of the things i wanted to say , so i could say this was a year with its ups and downs but thankfully it will end on a high note.
now i  know i graduate from psychology next year nervous and excited at the same time, it was a long and tortuous road; im thankful to have met some great people in the university i went to, but as always there were times when i was depressed and almost gave up but there was always someone or something that pushed me to continue with my career , i learned a lot of things this year in part in my university and in my professional practice how its called here.
i still have time to talk about the group of people im graduating with, so im moving on to family, so a lot happened this year regarding family matters, my sister graduated from law she was kind of happy that day and serious at times too, i wont get too much into detail since im dedicating a specific blog for a specific topic related to this year, my first blog will be about movies, my second about music and my last one a retrospectic on the year.
if i decide to add something more to this entry ill do it, before i forget tomorrow i start my last week in the institution im going that helps the elderly, hopefully it will stop raining soon and i feel a bit better so i can have a good week. so long for the moment

after the end of one road, whats next?

so two weeks of classes left, i already have my thesis ready now i have to wait to see if its approved , and then i have to present it in front of some judges, and next week i know the final grade of one of the subjects ive seen this semester.

in my professional practice things have been going good now to finish it and say goodbye to a great group of people ive had the pleasure of meeting and working with, well another week has passed i have to defend my thesis in front of some judges next wednesday something tells me ill do well in that.

well after a few weeks, i know the following things my thesis was approved, i passed all the subjects of this final semester and now i know im graduating on february; now to have a calm december hopefully.

apparently im going to be until december in the institution where im doing my professional practice, it doesnt bother me but i hope i do get to have a quiet and calm december, free of stress , this has been a great year for music if you know where to look but that depends in each persons musical tastes.

Close to the finish part 2

so instead of making a long entry, i decided to make various long entries to document how im doing and how the year ends for me, at least now i know what i have to correct on my thesis which is a plus also my supervisor in the institution im doing my professional practice told me i had to correct some things to show i was actually doing something there, and i will as hard as talking to others is to me at times, ill do everything i have to do to show im doing something to the other medical staff in the institution.

well this week i gave to my supervisor in the place im doing my professional practice in a report of what i did on some months of the year, from the looks of it i didnt do it as the supervisor wanted it so i have to modify some things and give it back again this week.

first time i talk about love in a blog, well i thought i experienced it a long time ago, but i was wrong maybe it was just a crush but who knows that was in the past, but whats strange about it is i felt hurt after a while but now that has passed; in the present i have a big crush on a girl from physical therapy that goes to the institution im doing my professional practice in, i think shes sweet, nice and kind to others, im not getting my hopes up but hopefully we can become friends, because a true friend is one of the most precious gifts that can exist.

so this weekend ive been correcting my thesis again, and tomorrow ill finish doing that and hopefully this will be the last time i have to do that, only time will tell but well see.

Its close to the Finish

so this is the start of a list of blog entries which will be about my last semester of college, among other things, this will be so i can keep track of what im thinking and what im doing in life, and to reflect on the past and the present.

to start things off last week i started therapy to know why i act the way i act, and why it seems im sabotaging my own life, doing the minimal effort at a lot of things, thinking ill live easy through life like that, turns out its wrong, since im in danger of losing my professional practice if i dont change my attitude to my work and life.

i admit something here, ive always thought if theres a purpose to me living and being on this planet, because i think at times there doesnt seem to be a reason to me being here, because ive been depressed most of my life, i wish i knew why, at first i blame it on someone, and now the blame ends on me, because i need to snap out of it, and get my life together or ill end up alone and depressed, and finish my career well, not only in the subjects im taking on my university but also on my professional practice, but on my life per se.

this will be the longest entry ill ever post here because it will be a reminder of everything some have told me about what im doing with my life, and what i need to change to get my act together, and be succesful not only professionaly but also on my personal life as well, so for the moment this is all, i feel frustrated because it seems like im comfortable with the situation im in right now, i should be now living alone and already working but that hasnt happened yet, if i change my view on life maybe everything will turn out great in the end.

guess what, ive complicated my life more than before, if i dont correct my thesis this week, ill lose my oportunity to graduate and my parents will kill me for that, so what am i going to do?, easy run like the dickens to my university, see what do i have to correct , do the corrections and hand over the corrections as quick as possible

Dealing with it

this title came out after and ok vacation as i would say, it was a week but a week that had its ups and downs to be honest, its related to a certain person i had the pleasure of hanging out with for three long days, why do i say this well because this said person annoyed me to no end , i wont say who it was all i can say is who carries three cellphones at once thats crazy i think.

so the week started off with visits to relatives and seeing some matches of the world cup, which were good i have to admit, the rest of the week was going to malls which was ok , and going to a city i never went to before called villavicencio thats part of the plains or los llanos , the experience there was different i guess the weather was hot, and it rained quite a bit, something i think people who lived there are accostumed to, coicidentally this week was the week for a lot of traditional festivals in different parts of the country, that celebrated different types of cultures and traditional folk music.

and there was also in the capital city of the country a festival called rock in the park, that ends today, where local, national and international bands play for three days all types of rock music, the entrance is free so anyone can go and enjoy different types of rock music in a different type of setting , and there are also a lot of these types of festivals all over the country they are smaller than this one but nonetheless important too
